అలహాబాద్ భారతదేశంలో ప్రసిద్ధ తీర్థస్థానం. త్రివేణి సంగమస్థానం. మనందరికీ అది కాశీ, గయ, ప్రయాగలలో ఒకటి. అనుకోకుండా ఒక మకరసంక్రాంతి పర్వదినంనాడు ఆ తీర్థం లో స్నానంచేసే అవకాశం లభించింది. తరువాత ఇంకా ఇతర పేర్లు ఉండేవి. కౌశాంబి, ప్రతిష్ఠానపురం ముఖ్యమైనవి. ఈ అలహాబాద్ అన్న పేరు ఎవరు పెట్టారు? 1583 లో అక్బర్ పాదుషా ఆపేరు పెట్టాడు. ఆయనపెట్టినపేరు ఇలాహాబాద్. అది అలహాబాద్ గా పరిణామం చెందినది. అల్లా యొక్క తోట అన్న అర్థమని చెబుతారు. అంటే బాద్ అన్నా బాగ్ అన్నా ఒకటే కావచ్చును. . ఇది అల్లా స్థానమైతే బ్రాహ్మణాబాద్ అని ఒకఊరు ఉన్నది తెలుసా. అది పాకిస్తాన్ లోని సింధురాష్ట్రం లో ఉంది. అక్కడి హైదరాబాదు కు 86కిమీ దూరంలో. ఒక బ్రాహ్మణచక్రవర్తి సింధుదేశానికి రాజధానిగా కట్టించుకున్నాడు.

It may not have many takers though. One author calls the idea of Pakistan was a concoction of some Muslim intellectuals.Cheruku Ramamohanrao that's right. In the Preface of the said book, Fazlur Rahman, the then Minister of Commerce and Education, Govt. of Pakistan wrote:

I can understand the concept of Pakistaniyat - I do not understand the dhimmi-attude of our people. You have to only read the Somnath story concocted by our eminent historian Romila Thapar, whose talk on Somanath I heard and Hindu Frontline published it.
