An atheist is not even a rationalist. God is said to be the ultimate cause of everything. Human beings cannot be rational more than in economic sense. They are more emotional than rational. They know only to look for the cheapest thing, shortest route etc. Their rationality ends there.
Why does a person want to be an atheist? He is lazy. He can use the five sensory organs but not the mind, the internal sense instrument (antah karana). The concept "God created the Universe" is the greatest discovery of human mind. The next great discovery was Atman different from the body.

What is wrong with Indian education system? Forcing English thinking on Indians. The root cause is the ever-lasting influence of Aristotelian logic. Indian disposition is against deterministic thinking. Doubt (Samsaya) should be the starting point of inquiry. Whether it is a news channel or a text-book or a class teacher - every one is thrusting views as facts on viewers, readers or listeners.
I am indebted to Western contributions in Engineering, in which field I have I guided 18 Ph D students, several of them Profs in US, in MNCs, directors of defence and space labs etc. But we should learn to think independently from several view points. What is taught or told is one view. The student should learn that there are other views on the same problem. What the English called Sepoy Mutiny, we call the first war of independence. This is the difference in viewpoint. With scientific revolution, the Western view started to change but the Aristotelian attitudes remain. This is what I tried to say in my article, English Thinking and Telugu Thinking part 1 in Acchamgaa Telugu group Our science could not grow in spite of investments because our education system failed us. Jaji Sarma, What media, teachers, writers, leaders are telling you are only their thoughts in preconceived moulds. Education should teach us to appreciate this and to realize that all your inputs are only statements. Most of these are not even reasonably true. Training in particular skills like computer programming is okay. But you should also be able to think about the future of computers, computing and communications. I think it is the colonial education system and the job opportunities which are responsible for the current situation. Free enquiry is not encouraged. Post independence education has been worse than education in British India. @Vvs Sarma Read Hunter's volumes on India. They are compiled under the title "Imperial gazetteer". Very exhaustive information of the Indian Subcontinent. Available on the net in pdf format. I can email it to you if you are interested. I feel saddened at how we in 65 years have transformed that fascinating country into a hell hole!
