Who is a Hindu? What Is Hinduism? Is Hinduism a religion? Is it not a way of life or dharma, for example, what is known as Sanathana Dharma? What is Hindustan, which a Muslim poet Muhammad Iqbal, (later to evolve as the National Poet of Pakistan and an ardent supporter of the two nation theory, an absolute fact), referred to when he sang – Sara jahan se acchaa. This confusion seems to persist among a section of the many HINDU friends in the FB community. At least in India, Christians and Muslims are clear about their religious association. They clearly say now they are not Hindus. In the eyes of a dominant segment of Indians (who call themselves liberal, secular,) and the media, Hindu, Hindutva, Hindu nationalism have a negative connotation and epithets such as Right wing, Fascist and Communal are freely thrown, if H words are used in discourse. Let us see if we can have some clarity.
